Moving Your Business Forward With Less Waste

“My two favorite things in life are libraries and bicycles. They both move people forward without wasting anything. The perfect day: riding a bike to the library.” – Peter Golkin

In our workplaces, we’re constantly faced with opportunities to move our businesses forward while reducing waste.

What do you waste?

Maybe you waste money, spending it on overlapping and unused subscriptions and tools.

Or you waste time, losing it to inefficient processes.

Maybe tangible resources are wasted–paper, devices, materials. Or intangible opportunities–connections you didn’t take advantage of, deadlines you missed.

We hope it’s never wasted talent. The employee you didn’t get to know well enough, competent in their duties, yet not impacting their business in all the ways they could.

Here are a few ways I’m working to reduce waste:

  • I’m streamlining processes so I’m not wasting your time;
  • I’m reducing clutter so I’m not wasting your attention;
  • I’m simplifying my writing so I’m not wasting words; and
  • I’m eliminating distractions so I’m not wasting my focus.

How can you move forward while wasting less? Without wasting anything?
